Frequently asked questions.
For young kids, play carries most of the load—blocks, water, outside, read-alouds, stories you act out, real tools they can handle. I reach for a workbook or a screen when there’s a clear reason, not as a default day.
Not for the first years. A steady rhythm, good books, time outside, a table they can work at, and you paying attention will beat a box most days until at least first grade if we’re being honest about what they need to grow on.
Enough to feel steady—meals, light, a read-aloud, outside—without coloring in every half hour. The white space is where the ideas show up.
